Mr. Richard O. Spencer, Jr., is an author, executive coach, entrepreneur, mentor, lecturer, and professional development strategist whose mission and desire is to help people live healthier, more productive lives, and discover the greatness within. As President and CEO of 4mK Group, LLC, and TGW Apparel and Marketing, Mr. Spencer assists small business owners realize their dreams of success in entrepreneurship.
Personal Life
He is the younger of two children born in Youngstown, OH and raised both in and near Philadelphia, PA. As life would have it, Mr. Spencer struggled with making the decision between focusing on academics and athletics; or answering the luring call of the streets. Through some struggles, missteps, trials, and tribulations, he emerged virtually unscathed and is blessed to share his testimony and lessons learned.
Having played football from the youth level all the way through an attempt to walk-on at the University of Pittsburgh, athletics have always played a key role in his personal development. In addition to the physical benefits, discipline, the spirit of competition, the team concept, and good sportsmanship were some of the many lessons learned through football.
Professional Life
Prior to 4mK Group, Mr. Spencer’s background includes over 20 years experience in corporate training, employee development, project management, leadership, and business development. Past companies include; Prudential Investments, Prudential Annuity Services, VerticalNet, Inc., GMAC Commercial Mortgage, CapMark Financial Services, and AMX Corporation. Most recently, Mr. Spencer worked in the non-profit sector as a consultant on a Fatherhood Program, teaching fathers about Healthy Relationships and Responsible Fatherhood. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director of the Enon-Coulter Community Development Corporation; a 501(c)3. During his career, he has facilitated both technical and non-technical classroom courses for end users, dealers, vendors, and partners. In addition, he’s managed focus groups, done peer coaching, and delivered various multi-media training courses.
Through those teaching opportunities, he developed an eagerness for affecting change in people. No matter what the subject matter is, Richard is enthusiastic about articulating it, using demonstrations, illustrations, and often humor to educate and challenge his audience.
Education
In 2023, Richard received his Executive Master of Business Administration from Howard University. A 1998 graduate of Philadelphia University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Small Business/Entrepreneurship. In 2006, he also completed the Leadership Development Certification Program at Pennsylvania State University, Abington Campus.
Lastly, he’s a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society.
